Lake Cania was opened on the 17th September 1983 and is situated on the Three Moon Creek, 5kms from our caravan park.
The old gold mining township of Cania is submerged under the lake. Headstones from the cemetery have been relocated on the lookout. Lake Cania holds 88,500 mega litres.
The lake supplies water for Monto and irrigation for farms along Three Moon Creek and as far as its junction with the Burnett River.
Lake Cania is a very big attraction to our tourists. It is one of the top 4 stocked dams in Queensland, and has been stocked with fish including Bass, Yellow Belly and Saratoga. Cania Fish Stocking Association holds its major annual fishing competition in November.
Water skiers will be in Heaven as the dam is suitable for this activity too.
